Computer Vision Summer Intern - #45545
AVIAN

Stadt: Dübendorf, AG
Vertragstyp: Praktikum
Your mission
Your Mission
At AVIAN, our mission is clear: we stop fires before they start. Our infrared camera systems and AI-driven monitoring help industrial companies detect abnormal heat early, prevent fire risk, protect assets, and avoid costly downtime.
We have reached product-market fit. We have the product, the proof, and strong customer demand. Now we need to scale the technology behind it.
As a Computer Vision Summer Intern, your mission is to help optimize and scale the visual intelligence that powers AVIAN’s fire prevention platform. You will work directly with our AI and engineering teams to refine our thermal image processing pipelines, improve edge/cloud model deployment, and enhance how our systems interpret real-world environments.
This is not a passive internship. You will ship real code and algorithms that directly impact our detection capabilities.

Your profile
Your Profile
You are a curious and pragmatic engineering or physics student at a Swiss university who is passionate about bringing computer vision out of the lab and into the real world. You care about mathematical accuracy, robust code, and fast execution.
Must-haves:
Why Us?
AVIAN is building a new category in industrial fire prevention. Our product protects real facilities, real assets, and real people. The impact is immediate, measurable, and operationally critical.
You will join at the right stage: product-market fit is proven, customer demand is real, and the technology now needs to scale. This is the opportunity to learn how a real-world engineering team bridges the gap between hardware sensors, edge AI, cloud systems, and industrial operations.
What We Offer:
Early Fire Prevention. Predictive Power.
AVIAN’s Swiss-engineered computer vision algorithms provide mission-critical protection for high-risk industries - wood, recycling, paper, and beyond - by spotting process anomalies before they escalate. Our AI-driven system has already stopped thousands of fires and downtime hours in real operations, saving facilities from catastrophic loss.
With the world’s largest dataset of real fire events, AVIAN delivers unmatched accuracy, instant alerts (SMS, WhatsApp, phone), and PLC-based automatic shutdowns. Beyond fire safety, our predictive maintenance analytics extend equipment lifetime, reduce downtime, and keep your facility insurable.

You Will:
- Optimize CV Pipelines: Build, test, and improve video ingestion and image processing pipelines for both thermal (infrared) and optical camera streams.
- Enhance Edge & Cloud AI: Assist in deploying, benchmarking, and optimizing computer vision models for low-latency inference on edge devices and cloud infrastructure.
- Data & Calibration Workflows: Develop internal tools for automated camera calibration, data augmentation, and synthetic data generation to improve model robustness.
- Thermal Analysis: Work on spatial-temporal analysis, object tracking, and anomaly detection algorithms tailored to thermodynamic behavior.
- Debug & Validate: Troubleshoot vision-specific issues across diverse lighting, environmental conditions, and hardware setups.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with hardware, software, and product teams to translate physical camera capabilities into reliable digital data.
- Maintain High Standards: Write clean, maintainable Python/C++ code with proper testing, documentation, and rigorous peer reviews.
