The Scientific Program Manager (SPM) will oversee a growing portfolio of related programs and projects. He or she will use subject matter expert knowledge, multi-stakeholder engagement, project management, business development, and team-building expertise to lead initiatives proactively, collaboratively, and successfully with limited guidance from their supervisor and with extensive external exposure opportunities. The SPM will have budget development and some budget reporting accountability on projects and events within their portfolio.
The work within the programs would range from developing and managing think tanks, sessions for annual meetings and committee management for expert volunteers, to authoring scientific publications and overseeing specific research projects and scientific program development.
The SPM will work closely with senior DIA staff and outside subject matter experts from the biopharmaceutical industry, technology sector, nonprofits, and academia. Through this work, the SPM will also:

The SPM will work closely with senior DIA staff and outside subject matter experts from the biopharmaceutical industry, technology sector, nonprofits, and academia. Through this work, the SPM will also:
- Build relationships with colleagues from many backgrounds including the biopharma industry, regulatory agencies, patient advocacy groups, and academia (those conducting research in both academic and non-academic environments.)
- Work cross-functionally with executive leadership, marketing, scientific and operational staff.
- Manages current programs and new initiatives, including small and large scientific events in Europe and elsewhere around the global.
- Stays up to date on patient engagement, clinical innovation, therapeutic area and regulatory trends, device and diagnostics industry including the areas of process excellence, clinical development, post-market safety monitoring and medical communications.
- Researches best publications, webinars, and events, dedicating time each week to reading industry news, attending webinars and in-person events to form connections for DIA and learn about the industry stakeholders, understand trends and business opportunities.
- Takes initiative to re-examine current research projects, identify issues and gaps, and is solution-oriented and develops next steps to overcome obstacles.
- Leads planning of sessions and panels for the DIA audience at meetings and creation of new events to expand DIA audience and drive revenue.
- Creates and track budgets, where applicable, to new and ongoing projects and events.
- Develops publications and authors presentations to showcase DIA research and establish our organization as both a convener and a thought leader in the AI life science space.
- Master’s degree in fields related to health science, medical product development, or other field related to life science innovation.
- Demonstrated strong project management skills.
- Expert in MS Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project; skills in using on-line or cloud-based collaboration tools; ability to develop technical documents and presentations.
- Proven strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
- Exceptional relationship-building skills with experience working with multiple stakeholders and generating consensus and leading discussions in the role of a neutral convener.
- Existing business development skills and contract negotiation experience.
- Skills in committee management and preparation of scientific content for events.
- Ability to travel throughout Europe as needed.
- Fluent in English. Proficiency in other languages a bonus.
